Got my rearend back! (Official build-up thread now )
Well, I picked up the rearend from the chassis shop, and I'm more than pleased with it.
Here's the specs: -12 bolt narrowed 5" total -Powertrax locker unit with 3.43 gears -Moser hardened axles (stock spline count) -3" screw in studs (both 4.75 & 5" bolt patterns) -New axle tube ends (these things accept stock brakes, but they allow me to run the Ford 9" bearing, so I don't have to run a C-clip eliminator) Today was my last final exam for class, so I actually had the ability to hit the garage, and I found myself wanting to tinker with the welder. Today was my first day learning how to weld (teaching myself, by the way) and I came up with this nifty little stand for the rearend. Anyhow... on to the pics!

Well, I drug the frame to the front yard and powerwashed it all down with my power washer. It's now setting in the front garage ready to be scuffed up and painted.

Snow days piss me off... There's like 3-4" out there, and it makes it impossible to do anything outside. At any rate, I blasted a few parts off today in the blasting cabinet, and started to clean up the rearend.... something tells me the wire brush and carb cleaner just aint gonna cut it.
I think I'll just seal up the axle tubes, put the rear cover on for good, and take some oven cleaner and the power washer to it. It wouldn't be such a huge deal but I want the chassis paint to stick and stay stuck, so I'm trying to get everything on the frame and such as clean as possible.

I got some stuff accomplished today. I'm trying to soak up my month off of school and make some headway, so far so good...
Fresh painted Frame... In good company, of course  another shot (It's OEM chassis black from eastwoods, sprayed through an HVLP gun)  A shot of the A-arms waiting for paint (just got the E/S bushings in)  Not pictured: I got the spindles, shackles, and front brake dust covers blasted and ready for paint. As soon as I get the rear backing plates and the steering box and arms and rearend prepped, I can paint those with the same OEM black, and start assembly!

Well, got the Rearend, Leafs, steering stuff, and rear backing plates ready for paint today. Tommorrow I hope to have all the suspension painted and ready for assembly this weekend.
I'm starting to feel some motivation pour in... LOL I just need to figure out a way to come up with the cash for that 1-piece side glass now....

No more updated pics at the moment. I totally forgot about the A-arms, so they'll get painted tommorrow hopefully along with the steering stuff. I started assembling the rearend as far as the axles and backing plates tonight, so it's coming together nicely.

May I ask what type of paint you went with for the frame and chassis components? BTW, I'm not sure how low your going in the rear (> 6"?) or what type of leaf setup, but do you think the driveshift might hit the crossmember between the front leaf mounts under a heavy launch? Again, looking sweet.

boxrodz, I'm using Eastwoods Extreme OEM chassis black coating. It's got a nice thick consistency (the thinned gun-friendly version) and really coats the parts well. After about 2 days cure time, the frame coating really feels rock hard, so I'm confident it'll hold up.
I'm lowered 7" in the rear, and as of right now the axle tubes will tag the bumpstops before the driveshaft will hit anything. I don't plan on doing any wheels up action until I put a transbrake in (year or two) so I don't think I'll have any issues.

I didn't get very much done today on the truck, mainly due to the fact that I had a bunch of christmas crap to attend to. However I got some of the hardware blasted and painted, and started assembling the rear section of the frame. Note: The tire and wheel pictured here are not for the truck, they just happened to be in the garage so I put one on. If you want a comparison, the one pictured is a 28X10.5, and the one I'm running is a 28X14.5 Pics:
