What did you get done? New Years edition!

Happy New Year everyone. It's time for our weekly show and tell session. What did you get done? What are your New Year's resolution?

This can be about your truck or your self....

I spent the week working extra hours so my wife could have Friday off. We had planned a New Years party and my buddy Keith (n2billet) and wife were coming to town for the weekend.

Friday I worked and ran errands for my wife picking up supplies for the party. Saturday I cleaned the garage, helped clean the house, and worked on the yard around my pool. Saturday evening we had a party and rang in the New Year with a bang.

Sunday was spent putting together a progress thread on n2billets 68- You can see his progress here.

Beyond that I just hung out with my buddy and talked trucks. Hopefully my 77 will be coming home soon.

What did you get done?

I worked as usual and not much else. Just counting down the days until Friday when I start taking the front end and rebuilding it. I'll have pics when it's all done.

Installed my newly acquired chrome shifter in my SM465.
Changed an oil pan gasket in my brother-in-laws 89 f*rd pick up.
Put a Dynomax cat-back exhaust on my sons 91 S-10 Blazer.
Happy New Years All !!!

Re: What did you get done? New Years edition!

I've been working overtime lately. I've got new bills and old bills, and a new project car. I bought a 1977 Pontiac Can Am just before Thanksgiving, and it's in the garage waiting on a new engine. First, I've got to pay it off, then save up for a nice 400 horse engine. That should be enough to move the car nicely . I've wanted one of these cars since I saw my first one in 1987, didn't even know about them to then. Nothing has been done on the truck for a while...... Later, David

Loaned out the truck to a good friend for a move. I miss my baby. He'll be back with it in the morning in time to watch the Alabama vs. Texas Tech game. ROLL TIDE!

I actually accomplished alot. I put on my new checker pro tonneau cover, got some new 20" rims, and finished the body work from shaving the doorhandles and locks. Other than that, not a whole lot.

Re: What did you get done? New Years edition! HAPPY NEW YEAR

My work actually started earlier in the week since I was on vacation. I manage to get the engine bay cleaned up, I had my headers sand blasted, ordered a new 4 row radiator, and painted under the hood a little. I also removed the old motor mounts.

Pulled up the last bit of carpet in our house. Found some water damage and noticed the wall where the water damage is appears to be so bad it's not attached to the flooring anymore. Oh well I was going to replace the framing/sheetrock anyway.

Re: What did you get done? New Years edition!

I actually got a lot done truck related. I picked up an 89 Suburban to use as a beater last week, and spent this weekend attempting an engine/trans swap. Saying it did not go particularly well is probably an understatement. After getting it just about ready to go in, I found another 89 sub with a perfect grey interior, new engine, trans, tires, headliner, alternator, battery, A/C, blah blah blah for $650. It has minor front damage, and whoever redid the trans is an idiot. It makes a REALLY loud popping noise when you back up. Luckily, I have another trans sitting on the floor. That should be up and running soon.

I also traded off my 77 Blazer. Kind of sad to see it go, and everyone that didn't really care for it was there too. Everyone in the shop with me and my ex-wife were all there to give it a good send off. At least it's going to a good home.

Other than that, there wasn't much else. I wasn't able to stay awake to see the ball drop. I must be getting old.....

DBLSPRT68- Cool car. It looks like a very solid start to another project

SlickSierra77- Where's the pics?

84slopwaggin- Where's the pics?

Izzy- Fun with framing....yuck!

Jonboy- Hate to hear the Blazer went down the road. I would love to have had it myself, but you know I'm already knee deep in more than I can handle.

The house was built in '52 so I knew what I was getting into, plus my mom cut us an amazing deal when we bought it from her.

I figure I'll put maybe 15-20k in and end up selling it for triple that so the hard work is worth it. Luckily the only thing I can't really do is the leveling(which will be around $6k ) and the roofing which my neighbors across the street will be doing.

I just got mine done. I love this dry weather. 8K would have made a nice project out of something.

What company did you use and did they tunnel under the house or go through a crawl space? I have a friend who just had thiers done and it was just under $7k and the company offers a 10 year warranty(I only plan on being here 5 max).

I used Rob Brown. They went in from the sides, and put in 21 piers. A friend of mine is a real estate broker, and these are the guys he used. They traeted me pretty right, for what they had to do. I will pm you their number.

Re: What did you get done? New Years edition!

Idled carburetor down some more, so basically, almost a year after changing the timing and the carburetor being idled all wrong, its about where it should be. Played with the passengerside headlight, thought it was burnt out but just disconnected from hitting a wash in the road.... grrr....

Re: What did you get done? New Years edition!

I got nothing truck related done. Saturday my two brothers, my dad and I used a jackhammer all day to break a bunch of rocks behind the shop so we can add on. We all got by the jackhammer. I came home with six blisters and an aching back. Sunday we recovered, and today we finished it up.
