Front disc brake ID?
I am trying to identify what brake setup is on my truck. Obviously my truck did not come with stock discs('70); a PO installed them at some point.
They are a single pot, cast iron, floating caliper, five lug. Long brake hoses up to the frame rail junction where they meet the hardline with a retainer bolted to the a-arm about halfway up. Reason I ask, I am looking to do drop spindles and want to know what to buy so I can reuse my current brake setup. Thanks in advance for all responses, all help appreciated. -Chris

Excuse the filfth, each area gets cleaned/painted as I upgrade. As you can tell by the dirt, I'm just getting started. Blazer tank is in now though. Maybe you guys can ID this rear too... The truck used to be coils, some PO bolted on all the leaf bracketry. The rear is unknown to me, check out the welds for the old spring perches. They are not angled like a coil rear would be. Looks like a truck with a narrower leaf setup. Drums are stamped MAX. DIA. 11.24

Re: Front disc brake ID?
Front looks like 73+ to me. Brake hose to front, clamp on upper A-arm, and rounded over dust/backing plate. The 72 dust/backing plate is flared away from the rotor.
Hope this helps - Bob

Re: Front disc brake ID?
So I should be looking for a 73-87 drop spindle?

Re: Front disc brake ID?
Yes, it's definitely 73-87 parts there.
You need 73-87 drop spindles for that application. Measure the width of the rotors though. There were thick and thin rotors. They use a different spindle. When you order the spindles, they're going to ask which rotors you have.

Re: Front disc brake ID?
Forget I said that. I looked in your pictures again, and I can clearly see the minimum thickness spec cast into the rotors. You have the thick rotors there.

Re: Front disc brake ID?
I recommend ECE spindles - either from a vender or direct. Just like TexasFirefighter said use the 73-87 thick rotor not the light duty.
Good luck - Bob
