69 body+78 chassis?

I have been given the chance to buy a 78 lwb 4x4.

I have a 69 2wd and would LOVE to make it 4wd.

My cab and body are in much better shape then the 78's.

I was wondering how hard is it to do.There is a guy in town with one.So I know it's possible.I would want it to be a fairly simple swap.I was told I would have to cut the frame in order to line up the rear tires with the wheel wells of the bed. That isn't something I want to do.

New mounts for the rad support, cab, and bed I can do.I'm a sheet metal worker and have a mig welder.

I would only do this if I can make it look good. Not something rigged togother.

Wait for Mudder67 to chime in.I`ve seen them done nicely.I hope to put a 67-72 cab clip on a`91 Suburban frame, then install a Reading service body.Bisquik65 has done what I want to do using a flatbed.

Re: 69 body+78 chassis?

Hey mudder67 my best buddies grandparents live in owensville.Never been there though.

Yeah I would love to look at your truck.

I am mainly worried about the bed and rear axle lining up.I don't wanna cut the frame.A freind of mine has one of these trucks I can get for free also.(No title and it's a piece. But the chassis and axles are there.)

Like I said I would love to have my truck 4wd.I'm willing to fabricate.(That's the fun part)Chopping my old truck up is not an option.
