my new project

drove it home yesterday... its a 70 c-10 its as close to rust free as I could find, bone stock V6 4spd manual... not sure exactly what the motor is yet or if it came on the truck originally... its gonna get a makeover... any suggestions?

Re: my new project

If it is actually a chevy and not a GMC with chevy grill, then the engine is not original.
The 305 and 351 V-6 engines were only in the GMC trucks, and i think 69 was the last year in 1/2 ton trucks. They are huge and some refer to them as big block V-6. They are massive and have cool scalloped valve covers that say GMC.
in 70 you could get a 250 or a 292 inline 6 in the CS models (first 2 digits on the VIN) or a 307/350/402 in the CE models. (same for the KS and KE, but I see yours is 2 wheel drive)
Got any underhood pics so maybe we can figure what's going on under there?

Re: my new project

a rust free shortbed, what a lucky score! its been repainted, so that means somebody might of done some rust removal in the past. i would take off the bed button snaps in the bedsides and make it smooth, lower it, repaint it, put shiny wheels on it, and make it all pretty. shortbeds look really good lowered.

Re: my new project

Nice looking truck.I agree with the "lower it and put v8 in it" crowd.I would even shave the sidemarkers but, thats what i like for a short bed truck. It does look good just the way it is to.

Re: my new project

thanks guys... actually my 1st goal is to find a pimp lime green tonneau cover to complement the custom paint!!! then maybe do some other stuff...

1st- get the all the sheetmetal beadblasted, to see what is really under the earl scheib paint job... and get rid of the "cool" snaps

2nd-not sure yet... but a drop including bags, adding vintage air, and an LS1/tranny or ??? into it... oh ya, and painting it

**is there a link somewhere to help me organize my thoughts on how and when to do what with the truck?

Re: my new project

Nice truck! As far as suggestions, I'd start by wheel shopping. Other than that looks like a solid start as long as the paint is hiding something.

Re: my new project

I looked in my GM catalog and I am showing the V-6 to have been dropped by 1970. I show the 250 6cyl., 307 & 350 V8 only. If you can PM the VIN to me I can let you know what that truck had original.
