Just a tiny bit of a start.....
My truck has been off the road for a year, with a couple of technical issues and lack of time all contributing. As today was a nice day I decided to wash the green slime off and give her a little attention. She fired up straight off, the last time she ran was three or four months ago although I have been keeping the battery topped up. Settled down to a nice healthy tickover, good oil pressure etc, so I let her run up to temperature fully whilst I ripped out the horrible soggy old carpet (I think the sealant in the drip rail needs some attention) Underneath the nasty cheap fur like carpet and soggy hairy felt underlay were 3 US quarters, a nickel and five one cent pieces, the oldest is 1956 and the newest 1977, so I guess thats an indication of when the carpet was last out, well before it crossed the atlantic to the UK. The floor is a little rusty and may get a bit worse once I get a wire brush to it and the bottom of one kick panel needs some work.
The idea is to strip the seat etc out, sort out the water leaks, clean up the floor, patch any rust holes, POR 15 the floor, and fit the new carpet set I've had under the bed for three years! The engine will then get a new intake, HEI dizzy, a set of Mickey Thompson valve covers to replace the rusty chrome ones. I've also found someone local to me who will rebuild my original starter motor hopefully solving my major engine problem (two crappy reman'd ones later!) It also needs new exhausts from the boxes back to just in front of the rear wheels. I plan to make a proper shroud for the electric fan and fit a second one and a proper thermostatic controller, sort out the bed wood with some stain and varnish, paint the metal strips and redo the sides, wheel tubs and tailgate inside with bed liner. She also needs a good service and lube up, the brakes need cleaning up etc before she goes in for her roadworthiness test. Work has to fit between other stuff though and the weather doesn't help as it all has to be done outside. My aim is to get her back on the road for the summer show season here in the UK. I have been gathering parts for the work though and I'm now looking for a tch to go in and I'd love a powerbrake setup as at the moment it's manual drums all round. Ultimately a power disk setup would be nice.

Re: Just a tiny bit of a start.....
I've owned my truck for nearly four years and for three of those it was my daily driver. Its just the last year its been off the road due to other pressures and some minor mechanical issues and as the price of gas went up I replaced it as a daily driver with a diesel 4x4 Isuzu Trooper. She's gonna be a weekend warrior now.

Your truck is really cool looking. Have always thought it very unique. Can imagine the looks it gets over there.

Re: Just a tiny bit of a start.....
Thanks guys. I hate the rollover bar, it's either got to go or be cut down so its a better fit, the wheels also really need a clean and polish, I have invested in a small tin of "mothers mag wheel polish" and a large one of "Elbow Grease" to do this LOL. The firewall will clean up as when the HEI goes in I'll lose the coil and ballast resistor (and the annoyingly hard to set up twin point mallory dizzy)

Re: Just a tiny bit of a start.....
Nice truck , i've always wanted a 67 . I agree , the rollbar needs to go . A chrome front and rear ( sport) bumper would look nice too , probably not too easy to come by overseas . So what led you to import a truck into the u.k. ? Oddly enough i traded my last 70 c10 stepside for a 73 tr6 , great little car , since sold. Good luck with your truck . Doug .

Re: Just a tiny bit of a start.....
The truck was already over here, I am I think, the third UK owner, it came from an area where there are lots of US airbases so it's quite possible it came across with a serviceman and stayed on. I kinda like the rear step bumper which is a good thing as a previous owner has welded it well and truly to the frame so it's not coming off easily and I do use it as a truck should be used, to haul stuff when its on the road. The truck started life as a real plain jane with a straight six under the hood and at some point in its life has gained a 1969 350. Some new rear springs wouldn't go amiss and probably some decent shock at some point too.
I never had a TR (could never afford one!) but did have two Triumph Spitfires, a 1969 MK III and a 1976 1500. It's a bit of a false start really as I go over to our house in France on 25th Jan for three or four weeks to do a load more work. The wife is sending me over on my own so I have no distractions. Got the lighting upstairs to sort out properly, finish sheetrocking the upstairs ceiling, a woodstove and flue to install, a stream crossing to sort out with some concrete pipe, got to see the mayor about the road and man about a staircase amongst loads of other little jobs. When I get back though my weekends are my own for a while so I am gonna make some progress then.

Re: Just a tiny bit of a start.....
Alright, I did a 69 MK III and a 67 TR4A back in HS (70s). Fun little machines. Wish I thought as highly of them then as I do now. One of them might still be around.
