Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
I thought I remembered seeing an article in "Classic Trucks" about converting the cargo light to a flush 3rd brake light set-up. Remove the protruding unit and insert/install a flush mount unit. I sent the magazine an e-mail asking for the issue if I was correct that it was their article. Does anybody remember the article and could you steer me in the right direction?
Thanks, Larry |

Re: Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
I converted my cargo light to a 3rd brake light. Rewired it in to the brake light circit and lightly sprayed the inside of the lens with red paint, works great!!!!

Re: Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
Thanks for the response. I am hoping to find the origin of the flush mounted unit I saw described in a magazine article.

TTT
I would like to see more about this too... I want to change it to a 3rd brake light too, but keep the orignal look of a cargo light. So I don't want to spray-paint the lense red. Are there red bulbs that fit in the cargo light? Cya, Edmond Dutch Longhorn ![]()

Re: Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
I remember the article, I even came across it last night when I was looking for the articles they did on the goodmark sheetmetal installs. It was in either classic trucks or custom classic trucks. It must be too old of an article because I couldnt find it on either website. I can look tonight for it and post the issue #'s tomorrow.

Re: Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
I have the 3rd brake light/ cargo light LED conversions in my "Garden Truck" and in stock. (Comes complete with hardware and instructions.)
![]() ![]() They are $109.95 and work as both a brighter cargo light than stock and 3rd brake light. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Re: Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
Go to earlyclassic.com they have the kit to turn a stock cargo light into a 3rd brake light. It uses LEDs that are white around the outside (for continued use as a cargo light) and red on the inside (3rd brake light).

Re: Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
Wes,
Thanks for the post. Good to hear from you. If I can't put this flush mount fabrication together, I will definitely hook up with you on your unit. Doing the shaved look including filling the seam on top of the cab and if I can figure out how to go flush, that is my first choice. Have a great day. Larry |

Re: Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
Found the article. It's only a 2 1/2 page quickie. It doubles as a tailight LED and 3rd brake light. The kit they used was from ECE (early classic enterprise) and it doubles as a brake light and cargo light like see ten mentioned. The article was in classic trucks Sep. 2003 Vol. 12 No. 9 and the article's title "en-lightenment" on page 65.

Re: Cargo light to 3rd Brake light?
A while ago there was a post here where a guy went to Radio Shack.
At the Shack he bought red LEDs. The LEDs were put in the cargo light and wired to the brakes. When you hit the brakes the red LEDs lit up. When you flicked the cargo light switch the cargo light came on.

Anyone used a later model version from Ford or Chevy on their '67?
