15x10 wheels -help
will 265x70R15's fit on 10" wide rims? I need to stay the same height as the 265X70R15's which I believe are about 29". Right now I have them on 15x8" rims.

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
10" is too wide for those tires.Aren`t the 8"ers kinda wide already for those tires already?

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
i run 275's on my 10 inch wide wheels. i havent aired them up a whole lot but they seem to bulge out still, so 265's should work.

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
unless I go to offroad type tire --- it is hard to find a taller/wider 15" besides the 265x70. I am open to suggestions tho and will try one on the 15x10's and let you know. I have a 2wd 67 --- with 1.5" spacers on it now for the 15x8's thanks

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
isn't that close to a 31x10.50 r15 tire, the 235/75's are close to the 30x9.50's,so i am guessing you could go to those, and those will fit on 10" wheels

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
agree with you hilljob26 -- after a trial fit of the 265x70's, may be the way I have to go but I hope to not raise the truck any. What would be nice is a 275 or 285 x 70 or 65 -- but have not seen those animals listed for 15"

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
not advertising - but I did find a listing for the 195x50x15. I know it can be figured but does anyone know width and height off-hand?

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
the best street tire to fit on the 10" rim is going to be the 275/60 it is ment to fit up to a 9.5in rim, the 285/70 is to fit max recomended rim of 9.0 rim, Hoosier tires has a 29x12.50R-15LT which is 29" tall 12.5" wide is recomended for a max 11" rim but recomended on a 10" rim both summit and Jegs both sells these tires, I'm sure there are some others as well. I will hopefully running the 29x15.50R-15LT on mine when I get done the rebuild.

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
A 285/70-15 fits fine on a 10" wheel & looks decent too. It has about the same sidewall look as a 275/60 but a little more height.

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
From my figures the 295x50x15 is about 26" tall and almost 11.5" wide. I believe that a 265x70x15 (29" tall and nearly 10.5" wide) will fit acceptably on a 10" wide rim. Will find out.

Re: 15x10 wheels -help
Here are a few sizes and specifications for some of the popular 15" sizes...
Tire size Rim Width Overall Diameter P225/60R15 6.0 - 8.0 25.6 P225/70R15 6.0 - 7.5 27.4 P235/60R15 6.5 - 8.5 26.1 P235/70R15 6.0 - 8.0 28.0 P245/60R15 7.0 - 8.5 26.6 P255/60R15 7.0 - 9.0 27.1 P255/70R15 6.5 - 8.5 29.1 P265/50R15 7.5 - 9.5 25.5 P275/50R15 7.5 - 9.5 25.9 P275/60R15 7.5 - 9.5 28.0 P285/70R15 7.5 - 9.5 30.8 P295/50R15 8.0 - 10.0 26.7 I am looking to put a 15"x10", 4.5" offset, ralley on the back of my '72. Trouble is I need the diameter to be 29.1" to match a 255/70-15 in front. A 295/60-15 would be close but a bit small at 28.9 diameter A 305/60-15 would be a 29.4 diameter, even better. A 325/55-15 would be perfect at 29.1". Trouble is these tires do not exist... Try playing with this calculator, it's the best one online... http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html -Fred |
