Patch panel question
I'm probably on the wrong fourm, but here goes. Anyone purchase the "OEM" rockers from Chevy Duty ? Comments, complaints?? Also I see LMC and Impala Bobs has front quarter bedsides for blazers for 129ish.This Goes all the way to the top of the bed and to about 1/2 down the bed. Anyone use these? Again, comments and complaints? My bedsides have seen better days, and the PO LOVED bondo. Also, anyone know the gauge of metal used by the facorty?? 18-19??
Thanks in advance! Best Ed |

Re: Patch panel question
Most vendors sell rocker panels from the same tiwan manufacturer. Every aftermarket rocker I've used fit the same--about a 1/4" short between the door pillars. Can't speak to the front quarter clip but most of the tiwan sheet metal is somewhat thiner then the original Gm.

I've had the same issue with various ones I've installed also. Those big quarter patches are hard to get good results with, not impossible but it takes experience to get them right. |

Re: Patch panel question
Not all rockers are made the same, but I did a big write up on Genuine GM verses the reproductions that I sell. The reproductions rockers that I sell weigh a full pound more than Genuine GM. THAT IS FACT!! Although the reproduction rockers can vary about 1/8" of length from rocker to rocker, I also found simeler inconsistancies in the Genuine GM ones. As far as finish goes the reproductions beat GM by a wide margen. The reproductions have more crisp lines, a better primer finish, and a smoother overall appearance. I find this to be true with the front inner fenders also. Anyone is more than welcome to come to my shop and do their own comparisons, and I think that you will find out that reproductions are not as bad as some have made them out to be. Certainly that they are not as bad as they were just some 5 years ago. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
