heated factory bench!
ok, guys. had it out with the wife, and she won (surprise.) we're goin' back to the factory bench seat.
i tore down the old bench the other night, and ordered replacement foam for the seat and back, as well as a new houndstooth cover (it's been sitting in dad's storage unit for about the past 12 years with a helluvalot of weight on top, so it's in nasty shape.) frame's good, springs are good, and it needs a good sandblastin' (anyone in DFW area willing to let me have a go with their sandblasting booth?) anyway, as if the foam and upholstery weren't pricey enough (felt like voluntary highway robbery) i think that since i've got it apart, i'm going to install a pair of those carbon fiber heated seat inserts (my wife's favorite part of modern cars.) anyone done this? any problems? also, i seem to all of a sudden have a nice comfy '95 ford seat that needs a home... longhornman talked about putting some in as well, but i never heard a conclusion. i just did a search on the board here and found the info, including a set that a board member found that heat as well as cool. just google 'em. heated seat kit Jeg's had a set, as well as Summit Racing. i've seen the prices range from $69 a seat to $200 a seat (2 required for the bench) they seem to be a popular product, but i haven't heard too many of our board members discuss them. Re: heated factory bench!
There's a member that's done it for sure, but I can't recall his name off the top of my head. Got the heaters very affordably off ebay. From what I recall he's very happy with them. Hopefully he'll see this and chime in, good luck!

but we always have fun riding together, and she's strange enough that she likes the heat even during the 11-1/2 months it's not coldish, especially because i'll run the a/c until snow blows out of the vents |

Re: heated factory bench!
Make sure you add a 30 amp fuse and a fusible link. We had some neighbors whose house burnt down due to a seat heater. The car had been in the garage for 2 days before it caught on fire. I'm also adding a smoke detector to my garage.

Re: heated factory bench!
8034469759 ebay item number for the carbon fiber heaters. I saved this when i saw that a member had put them in. I've never put in a set myself but they seem similar to the aftermarket ones we put into used caddilacs that don't have em. BTW, much cheaper than the brand i'm using but the ones we buy have gm wiring so they plug right in. They are nice to have.....
