Alternator questions
Need some help in determining how my alternator is performing. I reused the alternator from my 350 after I installed the 454('86), it was the easiest thing to do and I reused the external regulator. I have not decided on changing to a one wire set-up. Lots of help on how to do that right here.
Is there a test with a meter that I can perform that will tell me how much the alternator I am currently using is putting out, without taking the unit out of the truck and hauling it down to the local Autozone? The alternator in question is a Delco 1100734 42A, 6L10-12V Neg. Trying to learn more about the electrical stuff on this build.

Re: Alternator questions
An easy test is to use a volt meter , with the engine running at about 1000-2000 rpm , from the positive battery term to ground should read 14.1-14.7 volts .

Thanks a bunch for the fast replies. Gotta get my meter out and see what I can come up with. This forum is the best because of all the knowledge available out there, and people like you guys who aren't afraid to share it.
