Run a constant hot wire to one post of the push button and another wire from the other post to the "s" terminal of the solenoid.

On a side note, unplug your ignition switch, and inspect the actual problem, My old Longhorn started to burn these wires becouse the connection was rusted.

Why not just fix what's wrong. All you need to do is take the switch out of the dash with wires stil on then draw a diagram of the switch and take the wires off and redo them with crimp connectors. I was having the same problem awhile back and did this. I have had nomore problems. Starts everytime now. Also if you take the starter switch out what would you do about all of the accessary wiring off the back of the switch, seems to me it wouldn't be worth the hassel to rewire everything just fix whats there.

if the connectors are corroded and the wires are OK, a neat trick I learned is spray them with ether, that's right, ether. It will polish the brass in short order. WARNING!!!make sure the ether is dry before connecting and trying to engergize!!!!! If you decide to go with a push button, I'd make sure you get at least a 15 amp switch.
