Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
Thanks Rod... I appreciate it. I didn't know how rare they were, but I had never seen them and I never knew what they looked like... just took a chance. How would these mount on a truck or blazer? Trevor

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
I`d say they`re rare.Alot more rare than front tow hooks.I`ve never seen a truck with them in over 30 years. If the factory provided them, there should be holes for them.

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
Well here's a pic of them from an owners manual accessory page.
Looks like you got the correct ones. There not that common on light duty trucks...and there lies the hint.

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
71blksuper4x4,your`s look identical to Blazerman`s(LUV2XCLR8 posted pics). Is it just me?In that accessory page they look different.Could just be an approximate rendering. The base and bolt-pattern look elongated in the owners manual.

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
I picked them up off of ebay yesterday for $25, the guy had parts off of a early 70's chevy from what the auctions said, but most were for our style truck. If they are the correct ones... I figure the price was worth it.

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
The hooks in my pic are factory IH Scout tow hooks, they do look very close to the chevy hooks in the accessory catalog.

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
Just because they were on scouts doesn`t necessarily mean the same pieces couldn`t have been offered through the GM accessory program. The ventshades were made by...Ventshade,not GM.Most accessories were through outside jobbers.I tryed to get tow hooks for an`84 and the GM parts guy couldn`t find them listed.Said they were outside sourced, even though there were millions around and became standard towards the later years of that body(my`90 Blazer has them, not listed as an option).

I always thought them ventshades were sold by local auto parts chains, didn't know they were a GM accesory, learn something new everyday.

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
Well, after seeing those pics I remembered I had a 3-hole hook in my junk/miscelaneous pile, so I jsut had to snap a pic and have it judged by those in the know. Could this be one of them also?

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
Honestly, that looks more like the picture in the book.1st dibs.I have to dig some out I have that I bought to put on the rear of one of my trucks someday. It may be the same. The guy I bought them from at Carlisle was calling them factory.I didn`t believe it,but they were cheap. He had bought an old boneyard and pulled them.I figured they were off the front of a large truck. The fact that those you have are twisted leads me to believe they could be for side-mount,like the fronts.Although, the large truck ones sometimes are twisted.

I got a couple of those too in the same pile. I also have some chrome ones I use as bookends. The hooks on the chrome ones are twice as thick as the non chrome.

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
The Ventshades are available all over the place. What I was saying is they were offered as part of the GM Accessory program. My point in this is that some of the parts that GM offered in the Accessory program are just a selection of items available elsewhere or by the same jobber for other brands, like tow hooks.

Re: Are these the rare Rear Tow Hooks ???
LUV,you don`t need hooks.Just wrap a chain around the bumper the next time GQ ends up swamped. You`ll probably rebuild it to get the mud off anyway.LOL!
