Thanks Longhorn Man and Matthufham

I now have reverse lights! . Matt posted a slick rocker switch pic a few days ago that's on his B&M megashifter that caught my eye. Heres the thread:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=189943. I followed Andy's directions and it works great!. Just unplug the connector at the base of the column (the one with the light green wire and dark green wire). Super simple fix with no cutting or splicing. I got a rocker switch and ran one wire to a ground and wires to each of the two openings on the factory plug. I'm not using the backup switch at all. Flip the rocker switch and it lights up to let you know they are on!. Now I have to decide on how I want to cut a hole in my shifter plate to mount the switch like Matt's. The switch came with 4 different color covers and cost $5 at Advance. Thanks guys!

a lit up switch is a good idea.The cops used to love it when I drove around with my reverse lights on.I wondered why people stayed so far back.

I used to get pulled over all the time coming down from the mountain through the woods. Made for an easy 'probable cause' stop. Lot's of illegal drugs out in the woods and it's an easy way to look inside a vehicle for something more important. I never got a ticket, just lot's of warnings once I explained to them my setup and how I would forget to push the button turning off the reverse lights. I still get pulled over alot, but never get tickets. (looking for wood to knock on!)

Once I had a huge land yacht of a Cadillac tailgating me at a high rate of speed. I decided to brake hard and flip on the reverse lights at the same time. He braked HARD, skidded and went into the turn lane, finally caught up to me as I was turning off and passed me. I'm sure he had to change his shorts after that!

I used to have a little, unlit toggle under my dash for back-up lights that the PO installed. This worked nice for things like seeing in the pre-dawn at the boat ramp or when you cut the power to your fish house and you're loading up the truck for the trip back across the lake. Of course I left it on all the time.

Then I bought my 3000+ pound bass boat. The brakes for it are surge brakes. Surge brakes that are deactivated by having the back-up lights on (so you can back the boat into the lake).

It took one push through a stop sign because my trailer brakes were deactivated to get me to put a lit toggle where I could see it. Now when the back-up lights are on, the big green toggle is lit.

Problem solved.

Not trying to step on anyones toes here,,but i use the b&m megashifters in all my hotrods.

They make a tall base mount model for bench seat trucks,,,,,also, they come with a micro switch that mounts under the face plate for back-up lights.
However ,my 67 has a toggle switch now with 85 model column.
Just thought i'd throw that in there!

I have a toggle and it was wired to an LED, but it burned out. I find myself rolling down the road with my back up lights on once in a while too, I'm thinking of hooking up a small buzzer with a30 second delay on it or something. If it is a fairly quiet buzzer it'll work fine for me, a loud one would drive me nuts the first time it happened.
