Anyone use these filters? If so what is the part number for the 350? Also do you like them?

honestly, save your money and run a napa gold filter. I work for napa lol, but they are made by wix, it doesnt get any better than a wix oil filter. The napa gold is also about half the price of a K&N oil filter

Not only that, some of the oil filters have a hex heads on the bottom of them to take the filter on and off. There is a little tiny hole in the head, and if you squeeze the head very gently, oil will pour right out. I had one on my GMC, and I went to take it off, put a wrench on the head and a lot of oil dripped out from that hole. I wouldn't use a K&N oil filter.

I doubt that they can claim any HP gain from their oil filter. I ran one on two of my vehicles when they first came out, then thought better, and now buy a less expensive filter that doesn't do any noticable less acceptable job.

I run wix racing oil filter and K&N air filters can't beat the air filters easy to clean. the wix racing oil filter has a very dense element cleans the oil very well compared to others. Just my 2 cents worth.

I thought racing filters had LESS dense elements in them sincethe focus is on increasing flow.

when running on dirt tracks you want all the cleaning you can get thats why the wix racing filter is denser and at 90 psi oil pressure there is no restriction.

sadly ac delco doesnt make their own filters, its farmed out and ac delco is just put on the outside

AC Delco on the cars that get changed often, for the ATV's and the Lawnmower that get put through hell and normally go over 1 year without a change I use Wix.

I know that GM recommends that you not use k&n on the LS1 or LS2 because they do not flow enough. They clean better but puts more strain on the oil pump

I thought high flow was one of K7Ns selling points on these suckers.

I noticed last year that Carquest claims that their premium oil filters have a nitrile oil bypass rather than a rubber bypass. Carquest claims that their nitrile bypass flexes and keeps its shape better than rubber in extreme cold. One day I'll buy all the premium filters and dissect them:

1. Examine the parts quality and material (no Fram cardboard

)
2. Stretch the filter media to see which has more pleats and more surface area.
3. Note, if possible, any difference in filter perferation size. Maybe use a microscope (gotta locate one

)

I used to have a couple oil filter comparison sites saved as favs, but lost them due to a computer problem. Need to search again.

Howdy;
David Vizard, engine guru of great reknown, likes K&N oil filters on SBCs.
Read in (one of his many) books, "How to build Max Performance Chevy small blocks on a budget!"
The rest of the book is full of great info, too. EVERYONE who works on these engines should own a copy.

I used the K&N's with synthetic oil. My engine pecked, rattled, pinged and made all kinds of noises. I switched back to regular oil and Purolator filters. No more wierd noises. I'm gonna try Wix next go round.

HotRod or CarCraft one just had a small artilcle about a new filter that just came out. It has a three piece aluminum case with a removable, cleanable filter that is good for somethin thousand million miles.

It flows an insane amount of oil and has some kind of trap screen. They showed a picture of it catching small pieces of filter debris left from other filters that a filter mag won't catch. I didn't pay alot of attention to it because I'm not ready to pay $200 for an oil filter just yet. I'll see if I can get more info.

I don't know if K&N filters flow poorly because they filter down to a smaller micron, but I would expect that a high perf filter would add filter media to compensate for any improved filtering ability. To not do so would be a design flaw (I think). Like I said above, I want to cut up some filters so I can see if K&N has more filter media surface area.

anything but a Fram. Spend your money where you want. I run Delcos and change my oil every 5000 unless synthetic which I do every 7000 -9000. That includes my C6. I have found that keeping proper fluid levels will allow them to run a long time. Pulling trailers and other situations like racing of sorts may be different.

That Pure Power SS filter media set up looks great. Expensive, but awesome. I'd like to try one once I finish building a truck to keep for myself.

Every independent filter analysis I've seen implies K&N is not near the top of the list of best performer (either air or oil). Wix is usually pretty high. These reviews were in Porsche high performance magazines etc. think they are way over rated based on the performance I personally experienced.
