What is this part?

Can anyone tell me what this part is that was hanging underneath my steering column? 72' chevy C-10

That is supposed to be your back-up light switch and neutral switch

OK, thank you very much. I have a 79' chevy van tilt column. I'm having problems with my hazard lights and wondered if this thing had something to do with it.

When I push in my hazard button, they only blink if I flip my signal lever up (right blinker). Otherwise they don't work.

Sounds like the hazard flasher gizmo is bad. The one on the fuse block. Swap it and the turn signal one and you'll know for sure. Jeff.
