The front hub will not fit through newer style rims. You can have a machine shop drill them, but I don't think they would be safe. Now if it's an 8 lug, the new wheels bolt on.

Re: newer alum wheels on 87 truck?
There is a picture of a clean blue one in the "How about some pics of 73-87 short beds" thread that looks great, and had me wanting to try this. I can't remember if it's 4x4. I was assuming it was because they are 6 lug wheels, but now that I hear they don't fit I wonder if it was 2wd with adapters. That thread is so long I'm not sure how to find it.

Re: newer alum wheels on 87 truck?
here ya go 83 c20 converted to 4x4 d44.Wheels off of a 2000 silverado.deeper back spacing does not interfere with brakes front or rear on mine atleast. The wheels and tires were free,BUT the conversion lugnuts from dorman were about $5 apiece.if you dont want the newer center caps just use your old lug nuts.
and no modification to the wheels or hubs was needed. |

Re: newer alum wheels on 87 truck?
My 84 Crew Cab with wheels off 2005 Chevy 3/4 ton I used the conversion lug nuts think they were like $2.80 I know the whole set was less than $100 was gonna be about the same to convert all the studs over. Only modification I did was to cut the ****er out of the front hubcaps so they would fit over the hub no mods to the wheel or the hub itself
