Nothing more than the occasional Friday night run.

Time and ET are under my username...my eventual goal is to be the fastest truck in the Quarter Mile club at my dad's work (which is open to employees and their family). Sorted by 1/4mi trap speed so as to prevent "unstreetable gear ratios" and the like (but I've already got 3.73s! *cackle*).

The problem is, the fastest truck is a Ford Lightning cutting mid-13s at 100+ I believe, and the only two between me and him are a pair of mid-'80s monsters, one Ford, one Chevy, cutting low fifteens no problem. They've got a little rivalry going, actually.

I do have a 500lb weight advantage on the lightest of them, so I don't need to push as much power...and if my E.T. / trap speed relation keeps up, I'll be beating them to the other end long before I'm pulling better trap speeds. (There's only one other person near my trap speed who can cut an E.T. close to mine, the rest are all nearly a second back...)

Right now, my truck has the mostly-original 350 in it, backed by a TH400 with a stiff shift kit and the original 3.73 open rear. 275/60-15 Radial T/As on it, no real traction problems yet. Power-increasing mods as follows:
*Edelbrock #1901 Quadrajet, retuned for engine
*K&N 4" tall open-element filter
*Comp Cams 260H camshaft
*Dual ghetto (meineke) exhaust, I think 1-7/8 or 2 inches
*Completely rebuilt HEI (probably the best power-adder I've done, this thing cut more off of my time than anything else)

In the near future is a 700R4 with a shift kit, an Edelbrock #2101 intake manifold (if I ever win one on eBay), and an H-pipe for the exhaust, to be eventually replaced with headers and a better exhaust setup.

Still yet haven't taken mine to the track. Just some 'street' racing...ran a 13.40 Mustang and lost by a car length and ran a 13.30 car another night and my front bumper was on his rear quarter...so I'm figuring mid 13's.....

Sounds good guys. I have a buddy that works with me that drag races every weekend almost and we talk about it a lot. My truck isn't ready to even think about racing, but I realize that trucks are always a work in progress, so maybe some day??? Here is a picture of his mustang (I know it's a ford, but hey it's fast so that helps) His best time is 10.17 1/4 @ 129.85 mph. He is cranking out a 1.32 60ft time. Not bad for a 302 bored .030. He has a virtually bulletproof engine though. It's also got a 150 shot on it................ Yes that retaining wall is about 2 ft high.........JB

Those little 5.0's can be absolutely evil. I've seen a video of one that wheelied so hard that it dragged its bumper along the pavement en route to a low 10 or high 9 second pass.
