Great find! Value?
I cannot believe the find I ran into today. I drove through a small town today at lunch and found a bone stock 69 long bed. Heres the great part. The cab...NO RUST! The truck has 30+ years of wear on the paint but no dents in the body/cab/frontend. The truck has the original I-6/ three speed/ 12-bolt. The truck is a no frills farm truck, still has original wheels (no caps). Even the drip rails aren't rusted. The only place I found rust was under the battery, a small spot of surface rust on the firewall, and lots of surface rust in the bed and on the bed rails. The cab corners and rockers look like, well they're just plain perfect. The only thing thats different is the seat cover and he put a choke lever in it.
So, how much do ya'll think its worth? He wants $2500 for it. The motor has some oil leaks, and a good exhaust leak, the norm. But it drives just fine. I really don't need it, but I hate to see something in that good of shape slip away from me!

If the body is as good as you say, and it is a driver, I'd say you'd be $$ ahead.
Body work is pretty darned expensive if you don't know how to do it. |

Sounds like a lot of money to me! Costs less than that new.

That thing is solid as hell! If I only had the money and the room. I told the guy I may come back and get some pics to post here just in case I can't get it. I've seen some real horror stories here and this could really be a great truck for someone who is looking for a solid foundation.

sounds like a solid truck, but what would you do with it if you bought it...??? If you like a no optioned 6 with a 3 speed, you could fix the leaks, do some cosmetics and have a nice economical stocker for cruising and hauling... but if you're thinking you'd upgrade the engine/trans, custom wheels, new trim, interior, etc., then you're talking about much more time and money to sink into it...
I guess it's a good platform for both..... I guess I'd try to decide what I'd do with the truck in the long term (since you say you don't really need it), then probably try to get him down under 2k if I was serious about it...

I agree, I realisticly won't buy it. It just puts me on my *ss to see such a solid truck. I would trade my left, uh, you know, to have the cab. If anyone is interested and in the southeastern US of A, let me know and I can get pics and give you the guys #.
