Replacement Stepside tail lights?

I know this has been done but with what? I hate the look of the stockers from 77-87. They're just a trailer light. Show me what you have converted or used. And I would prefer bolt on. Not cut into or mounted to the fenders.

I am looking into Hot Rod or Custom motorcycle styles possibly.

Thanks.

Re: Replacement Stepside tail lights?

Come on now. The pics were just sort of a reference? Anyone with any pics of what you have replaced the ugly trailer lamps with? The 77 & older are good looking but spedny to purchase all the parts outright.

Re: Replacement Stepside tail lights?

You might take a look at 55-59 or 60-66 Chevy stepside lights. They have round housings and lenses, the 55-59 lights and brackets are available repop in chrome or stainless.

I have also seen the oblong led trailer lights mounted below the tailgate.

Re: Replacement Stepside tail lights?

Thanks for the info.. I ahve been looking at the 60-66 lights. I found some in stailess. They also offer LED's for them.
I found these yesterday but don't think they will be DOT legal? Not sure if I care or not but they look great and are pretty reasonable..LED tail lamps They may just fit into the end of the bed rails quite nicely? Plumbing them would be easy down the side brace.

Re: Replacement Stepside tail lights?

Here's what I'm gonna go with post-paint... one of these here. you'll have to go to summit racing and search the part numbers, I can't figure out how to link through all those subpages right... I wish websites would learn simple=most efficient.

IPC-CWT-CE407CS
IPC-LEDT-407C
IPC-CWT-CE407C

They are Euros / LEDs for Jeep Wranglers which have the exact same trailer lights as us, but these LEDs look fresh. I've never seen a C/K or a Jeep for that matter with these on them around here.

check out this recent post:

some good ideas there... i would consider what you anticipate on doing with your bumper... you may want to think about a roll pan or not.

Re: Replacement Stepside tail lights?

I have a bumper from (if you can believe this) a Jeep CJ?

It will actually fit pretty good and won't look out of place (I think) I just need to fab some brackets (No big deal) It's factory Chrome, It's an easy replacement if someone wangs it. I am not totally sure on it as I have not actually put it up to the truck yet but I can visualize it pretty easily. I don't want to opt for a roll pan as that's more coin$ I don't need to be spending on this truck.

That bumper and these lights mounted in the stock mounting holes:

Aww screw it! I'm just gonna put the stock lights on it and sell it!! ( I try too hard, and I'm not even keeping it!! I love to complicate my life??)
