Re: Changing from a BBC to SBC

I had the 396 out of my '69 for a while & had a 350 in it with a 400th. It was a direct bolt in. I dont know anything about how exhaust manifolds fit because I was running chevelle headers...corn

What about the drive shaft? And did you have to move the motor mounts forward or backwards? Did you use the newer style motor mounts?

Re: Changing from a BBC to SBC

I pulled one engine out & bolted the other one in. Unbolted the motor mounts from the BBC, bolted them on SBC. Thats it...

I went the other way with my 78 K20. 350 to 454. required new exhaust head pipes and I had to lose the fan surround. I used the small block towers and mounts. Everything fit fine.

Sweet, I think then that I might just keep these $200 set of 72 engine mounts and use them for the truck instead of selling them. I don't know though, $200 bones is $200 bones

Re: Changing from a BBC to SBC

Swap the mounts. Like you said they are worth something, and sb stands and mounts are dirt cheap. Use the extra $$ to buy other parts you need.
