I see alot ( almost everybody) lowering or in the process of lowering their truck. Did anybody keeps theirs the height when it came off the assembly line? I will admit I lowered mine the cheapest way possible and I'm going back to the stock height until I can afford to lower it properly. I changed to many angles doing it the cheap way and it won't be safe. Any pics of a truck at stock height? By the way all the people that have lowered their trucks I have to say they look really good. These trucks look good at any ride height.

Mine's at stock height... with the exception of 35 years worth of sagging... and the added weight of the Caddy motor on the springs. (which isn't much of a drop)

Howdy:
I did a stock-type rebuild on the frontend of my '67 stepside. Wanted a solid daily driver, and that just suited me fine. Agree that some of the lowered trucks really look good, but high cost and the fact that this truck needs to do work when called on were the deciding factors. Heck, I came into this wanting a "work truck", until I saw how little you got for your money ( at least around here) going that way. Quickly decided on a truck that looks good and works. Oh well!

Both my Jimmy and my Blazer will be kept their stock height. I like the stock look better.

Stock height here. I use my truck for about everything. No cool lowering for me. Although I agree a little drop is nice looking, I'm not really into the "slammed" look.

Another ride height.Well my 69 4x4 is going up 6 more inches courtesy of skyjacker but my 71 longbed 2wd is staying stock ride height because i think a longbed looks good with some nice wheels at the same height,not the same with a shortbed though.

All mine are stock............Mostly because I hate climbing in a truck, do enough of that wrenching on semi's, and I hate having to FALL into a vehicle because it is on the ground. I can really notice the difference getting in my K-20 vs my C-20, and their isn't too much of a difference their height wise, but I like my 4x2 better for jumping in and out. But of-course I still use them as a truck and the stock height is just right.

Not crazy at all about the lowered truck look anyhow............And the lifted trucks aren't practical.

Don't know were that fad started, but sure hope it ends. In my neck of the woods I like to be able to clear dirt mounds and small animals. I laugh at the kids round here that buy all these ground effects and low pro tires when they leave town and smash parts off crossing the first gravel road they hit. Everyone has their style. Mine is ground clearance, and not skyjacked either.

I like the look of a lowered ride, if it is done right will ride the same and handle better. My 65 burb is lowered, but the roads around here stink. Be even worse if I still live in DC.
Everything else is either stock or very close.

Well my 68 was at stock height until I replaced the rear springs (the "ears" broke on the springs). I replaced the rear springs with new "stock" ones and now the rear bumper is 3-4 inches higher than before. It used to have just a slight rake to it before now it has quite a noticeable one.

So now I am going to have to likely get rear 2 inch drop springs to level it out. I don't know if that then qualifys as a "lowered" truck or stock but thats what needs to happen.

Now on out 70, the front sits pretty high, there is almost no up travel left in the front suspension, we repaced the original 6 banger with a V8. I think I am going to have to cut a coil out or get some lowering spings on front to get some suspension travel back. Once again I don't know if that will make it a lowered truck or not. I would guess not as I am just rying to get them both to sit closer to where the stock suspension is set up for.

My 3 cents.

My C20 is stock height mostly because it is my daily driver and it is used for hauling stuff. My truck had a temparary lowering job today when the box was full of soil.

mines stock height ... dont like how longbeds look when lowered .... IF i were ever going to do it ... i'd bag it ... so i could bring it back up when need be ... just my thoughts on lowering

WOW... I never would have guessed that there were so many stock ride trucks on this board. You guys have inspired me to go back to stock height, at least I know it will be safe. I cut too many coils off of the front to get it to drop 4 inches and now the coils are just slopping around in the a arms whenever I lift the front of the truck slightly

. I know it was not the smartest thing to do, but the worst part about it is the ride quality

. I have access to stock springs so I'll be taking them off the donor truck and putting them under the 69.

maybe im too young But i love my lowered truck I did it 3 inches all around and still rides pretty decent I guess it all just come down to personal preference, I still do like to look back at pics tho to see what she looked like at stock height

Mine is stock. Lowering is too expensive and I've already rebuilt my front suspension. If I wanted a lower vehicle I'd buy a car.
