It will be on a long bed with leaf springs. considering tractor paint with matching primer or Eastwood Chasis Coat. Will e ordering in the next couple of days.

Wanting guesstimate:

How much primer do you think it would take?

How much top coat (flat black)?

I just did my 67 with Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator, bought a gallon & used less than half and with two full coats. you dont need any primer, just make sure no loose stuff and no oil/greese, using a wire brush to clean up any rust is supposedly good enough according to thier instructions, my frame was completely new. I also am using their Extreme Chassis Black, Used two cans so far one more should do it. looks nice so far. I even cleaned up a couple of spots under the cab and used the Encapsultor their as well. Oh, and it took them a week to get me everything, if your closer then maybe a little quicker.

I figure I'll have less than 2 quarts with my chassis, (shortbed), but let me add that me and paint brushes are not friends. I make a mess, so I waste some. I love the Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. My $.02, don't buy it in the larger quatities, like the gallon. It'll go bad on the shelf once it is open. I recommend you buy no bigger than quarts and I think you should make it with 2 quarts.

I did not prime, nor am I top coating it. If you do topcoat it with Chjassis Black, then 2 quarts would be more than enough with that, but unless you want shiney black I recommend just the rust encapsulator covering.

How did you prep your frame? Blast or a wire wheel? Did you degrease and powerwash for the RE?

I sprayed it with ovenn cleaner, than pressure washed it. I them went over it with a wire brush (on the drill mostly). I then wiped it down the prep stuff eastwood sells or laquer thinner (which they also recommend). On my frame I used both because I ran out of the prep stuff I had. Once it dried, I brushed on the paint. I went back 2 days later (had to work in between) and put on a light second coat, mostly to cover some spots I missed.
