are winshield squirters stock?
Theres a toggle switch on my dash that I didnt think did anything... the guy i bought it from even said I dont know what that is...... but anyways, i got my cluster out doing some work and I see the lines from the toggle go through the firewall.. so I follow them and they end up at a connector thats just taped to the inside fender.. so I plug it back together, and go hit the switch and winshield solvent squirts out of the cowl on to the winshield... it was only a little, must have been what was left in the line... but when i flick the switch you still here the motor pumping for the squirter... Im just wondering if this is stock or something someone rigged up

Re: are winshield squirters stock?
Someone rigged the switch up, but squirters were stock. The stock motor is part of the wiper motor assembly. You made them work by turning the wiper switch the opposite direction IIRC.

Re: are winshield squirters stock?
the stock one you just depress the wiper knob and it is supposed to squirt and turn on the wipers on low.
But the stock washer pump was lame and a crappy product. |

Re: are winshield squirters stock?
The stock system usually doesn't work and it is a bear to fix up under the dash on the wiper motor.
When you pushed the wiper button you got 12 squirts, even if you only needed 1 or 2. The add on elec pump is easy to install and change. You can wire it up to the stock switch and only squirt as much as needed, with no extra switches. |

Re: are winshield squirters stock?
Hmm. That's something to think about. I had planned on buying a replacement wiper/washer for my 71 GMC while I had the dash tore apart. Sounds like maybe that's not the best thing to do. I do know the aftermarket ones work very well. I've use them before. One would have thought that in the last thirty years, they would have improved the "stock" unit.

Re: are winshield squirters stock?
I got a new tank with pump from a place called Mill Step Van parts. Longhornman probably knows who I am talking about.
it hold a full gallon and has enough presure/volume to supply wet arms. IIRC it cost about $30 and the pump is the same as a 94 Ranger. I am looking into mounting a squirter from a early 90s F150. I like the way they spray. |

Mill Step Vans... I think they may have an on-line store too, I know there's a catalog. I almost used one of those too.
