Question should my friend buy this truck?

I have a friend and we've just started rebuilding his 72 fleetside longbed. Well he's always wanted to convert it to a shortbed and he has the possibility of buying one. All I know is that it's a '72 short bed but doesn't have an engine (which is fine) and they're asking 1800 for it. My friend asked if they'd take 1600 for it just to find out I guess. Is 1600-1800 worth it? I have a picture but I don't know how to get it on here. It doesn't look bad and looks like they've primered the truck (so maybe they did some body work too). But I really don't know a ton about these trucks (I have an s-10).
Also my other question is did 67-72 trucks all come with coil springs in the rear or did some of them have leafsprings?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Re: should my friend buy this truck?

they had leaf of coils in the rear.... did he already look at the truck in person? if not I would never make an offer before seeing it.. if they already said they would drop to 1600 then it will be hard to try to drop it more once you see it.... check out the condition of the body and all the mounts, and any body work done to it first, check out the frame and all the suspension... it would have to be in damn good condition for me to pay 1600 for a roller

I don't know how it is where you are, but a Short Fleetside is hard to find over here. Depending on it's condition, It might be worth it. He'll be able to off-set the cost when he sells the longbed.
