I think it was about time & a question???

I think it was maybe a bit past time for new engine mounts and a tranny mount. Also the upper control arm shaft was a tad bit worn.

Do ya'll think it was a bit past time for these?

Now the question. I think the mounts shown are for 72 BBC, I have 72 BBC towers in the truck. But I need to make sure these are really the 72 Chevy BBC mounts. Could someone tell me what the length is from the top bolt holes to the bottom bolt holes on a 72 BBC mount, measured from center of hole to center of hole? My mechanic that changed these for me could not find any mounts that were correct for my towers.

I was told by the parts store and also a classic truck supplier in my area that the SBC mounts have the same bolt pattern where the mount bolts to the tower. The mounts the parts store gave me were too short and would have required drilling another hole in the towers. My mechanic found som mounts and "made them work". This worries me. I want to find the right mounts for the stands I have.

Thanks for the help.

I also found a bent wheel.

I will measure mine in the morning. The part you should get is 73+ BBC(454) motor mount. The bolts are as follows; Top has 2 - bottom 1 is in the middle accross the bottom.

These should fit the 72 stands without a problem. The 73+SBC use a different bolt placement.

Hope this helps - Bob

Re: I think it was about time & a question???

Measurements as follows:

Top holes 2 5/16 center to center

Bottom hole 5 5/8 center to center from either top hole - looks like a tall V

Bottom hole is centered in mount

Last time I checked AUTOZONE had these for around $12 each

Hope this helps - Bob
