Electronic Choke Adjustment
My son changed the plugs, wires, oil and adjusted the choke, now the dang thing cranks and cranks on cold start, what do I do? This use to start right up but you'd never turn it off before it warmed up since it would do what its doing now. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Electronic Choke Adjustment
Are you absolutely sure the plug wires are right? Is the coil wire good?
The electric choke can be set rather easily---With the motor off-- loosen the screws on the bakelite choke housing and turn the housing "top" back towards the firewall. When you see the butterfly move slightly open then stop and tighten the screws. (That is turning it towards "LEAN") If the choke plate does not move look at the choke housing and see where the indication is pointing, maybe your son has it TOO lean already. Move the housing until you can see where the choke plate moves in the closed direction and then follow the first set of instructions. Once that is set, then get it started and adjust the cold idle to about 1200 RPM on the first or second cam and see if that will work for you. |

Re: Electronic Choke Adjustment
If I recall correctly there is no coil wire on an 86, electronic ignition - Am I correct, so that cannot be it, but I really do appreciate the input of setting the choke though, once I get it back from the transmission shop I'll set it.
Thanks piesparts
