700-r4

Changed tranny filter and fluid now the tranny won't shift into 3rd I think this trany is prety much screwed but I dont want give up just yet. Any input sugestions or advive is welcomed . thank you

It's a 700r4 in a 1969 chevy c-10 with a 350 2 barrel carb.

Agreed, Tv cable out of adjustment on these can trash em in a hurry

I changed fluid and I only had third gear. Pulled the panback off and found that I had pulled one of the solonoid wires loose due to pan/crossmember clearance. Had to look for it cuz it looked like it was still attached. Steve

I've adjusted the tv cable to how it states it in the manual so Im okay there i pull the pan off to see what gives and do a mod that i had been thinking of doing before getting as a daily driver what do you guys think.heres the mod

In a 700R4 the wires control the converter lock up only. How did it work before you changed the fluid? If it had no problems before I would suspect a piece of dirt in the Throttle valve. This can cause late or no shifts. If this is the case, sometimes you can shake it loose by stomping the throttle several times while driving. Sometimes it work it loose sometimes not. If the unit is high mileage it may be time for some internal repairs.

It shifted real smooth no probs. I never really paid attension to the shifting points.
