long or short h2o pump?
which pump do I need on my crate 350? It came with a long style pump. I am putting Vintage Air in the non a/c truck and want it to go thru the passenger side... so, the alternator should go on the driver side. I am hearing differing things and need some help... thanks

Re: long or short h2o pump?
Going with a short pump will be easier if your crate motor has a steel timing chain cover (not plastic - i.e. Ram Jet). With the short pump you can get the ac hose kit that is allready crimped - less hassle during install - just make sure you get the proper pulleys also for belt alingment.

Re: long or short h2o pump?
Short. I went the long pump route and never could find hoses that fit right. 67-72's came with short pumps, so finding replacement parts is easier.

Re: long or short h2o pump?
I made the mistake of switching to a long pump. Brackets pulleys are a problem. The lower radiator hose is a whole nother issue. If I had it to do over again, I would stick with the short pump.
