Re: Electric Fan Selection
I have a single aluminum and it draws about 2950. I dont know if you will find one that will draw more as per the salseman at Jegs.
I did get a shroud from Wes. Last edited by Mudder; 05-14-2006 at 11:14 PM. |

Re: Electric Fan Selection
For all the hot rods and 4x4 buggys I built we always use 16" spal fans. They pull between 24 and 2800 cfm's and are only 3 1/4" think. But for my 71 PU I have a duel unit off a newer camaro that looks like it was made for our radiators. Also the cool part is you can hook each fan up to its own thermo switch so the firts one turns on at say 160* and th esecond one kicks in at 200* or just when your AC is on. I have not tried it on my truck yet but I did run one on a 92 5.0 road racing mustange i built a few years ago and unless the AC was on that second fan never had to kick in.

Re: Electric Fan Selection
pull one from a yard. I pulled one from a t-bird(super) and it fit perfectly inside the stock fan shroud. It is actually mounted to the shroud. Leaves that stock look in the engine.
this is in my 77k5 with a 383 and keeps it running cool.

Re: Electric Fan Selection
I used a single 16 inch "black magic" kit for my stock 307. Faster engines would need more cooling, but it works great for mine! Here is the link from when I did it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=187724

Re: Electric Fan Selection
I'm running a dual electric fan set-up. A junkyard special.

Re: Electric Fan Selection
I have been wondering if it would be better to run fan snug against rad. or pull it back some like at the outer edge of shroud?I am running a single (16")fan I dson't like the plastic things that go through the rad to hold it on but got to thinking (scary) that it might tend to pull more air if it sat back that extra 5 or so inches and use the shroud more like a funnell. any comments on this .

Re: Electric Fan Selection
I'm interested in this also. Was going to go with the Altima idea off the FAQ boards, but want to see the Thunderbird setup first.
