Identify Radio? Will it FIt?
I found this radio in the box of my truck when I got it home!
Does anybody know what chevy it is out of? Will it fit in my stock '69 dash? The sticker is still on the side and reads: Part no. 16009960 service ref. no. 30BCMS1 [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Thanks in advance!

Re: Identify Radio? Will it FIt?
As usual Andy is on top of it. I don't think they fit because then everyone would have am/fm,cassette,CB etc.
Don't take my word for it though. Walk outside and try it. Good luck - Bob

Re: Identify Radio? Will it FIt?
I'm thinking the face will be too tall on that radio. Looking at it, and picturing a DIN sized stereo.... that face looks about an inch too tall.

Looks like what came out of my 82 Caprice. Way too tall to fit the truck!
I tried. |

Re: Identify Radio? Will it FIt?
Been down that road already. YES AND NO.
It will not simply FIT into position, but it can be done. I had to modify the back of the radio itself to force it to fit. It will touch the backside of the cowl unless you cut the radio case down. And the shafts aren't centered in the holes either. You can fashion yourself some washers and drill the holes off-center to help finish out the install or make a trim panel out of thin aluminum. And lastly, you WILL have to cut your dash. Like Longhorn Man mentioned above, this one is way too tall for the stock opening. I made mine fit, but would not do it again. Look closely...you can see it in the dash of my old cab.

Re: Identify Radio? Will it FIt?
Yeah, I got one of these from a junk yard about a month after getting my truck. Big dissapointment when I found out it wouldn't fit. I ended up bringing the original AM radio back to life by installing a new speaker, and cleaning the volume pot, but would really like to have the FM WITH the mechanical push-button tuner. Some day....
Truck is too loud inside to be able to hear the radio anyway!!

Re: Identify Radio? Will it FIt?
Thanks for all the replies....I think i will just keep my 80's aftermarket deck in for now, I guess that is why it was in the box of my truck and not the dash!

Re: Identify Radio? Will it FIt?
The dial portion of the stock radio measures 4 3/8" X 2 1/8". Knob shafts are 6 1/4" center to center. The distance between the knobs can be adjusted on some radios.

Re: Identify Radio? Will it FIt?
syncrov69...just use the measurements I stated in previous message. The dial portion does not appear to be the right size for GM radios used in our trucks.....
