Re: parking brake part help
Not sure I was fixen to buy all the cables from LMC but was not sure on this part. When I checked on my truck the PO (short for JackA$$) only left a small round tube with the Mickey Mouse clip (like what is circled) on the truck.

Re: parking brake part help
oj,
I just replaced my cables the other day with a set from www.inlinetube.com I think it's like 67chevemall said, it is part of the rear cable assembly. Hope this helps. |

I'll check my part-out trucks later today. If I have one it's yours for postage fees.

Re: parking brake part help
Thanks for the reply guys. However I have another question and have attached a picture of the cable setup. What I have in my truck right now is circled in blue. The question I have is if I order the whole kit from inline.com will it come with what is circled in red also? My truck is a 70 C/10 with a 6cyl.250 3 on the tree. I am also not sure whitch one to get. the kits Inline show are below.

Re: parking brake part help
I would hope so as they hold the wire and tension in place...I would call and ask the sales guy if your ordering online...

Re: parking brake part help
oj,
I have a 71 short step, and I ordered the "complete" kit from Inline Tube. What I got was: 2 rear brake cables that attach to the rear drums, the center cable which links to the two rear cables, the cable and adjustable equalizer which attaches to the center cable and goes to your pedal in the cab, and most of the clips required for the job. You have to save the long tensioner rod and the two little pig tail tensioners all of which are inserted through the appropriate holes in the frame. I also had to re-use the cable holder on the end of the long tensioning rod. As far as the kit number, I'm not sure, because my invoice is at home, but I changed from a 3 speed manual to a TH400 trans. Hope this helps Peter |

Re: parking brake part help
Hey Shock -me, Thanks for the great info. I did email inline and the info you posted here is twice the amount i got from them. would you happen to know where I could get the parts that you did mention that did not come with the kit? I would like to buy them new if i'm going with all new cables but if not I'll take what i can get.

Re: parking brake part help
Any idea of what cable kit to use with a 700r4 tranny? I noticed in the catalog there are different cables for different tranny's, sorry to hijack the thread

Re: parking brake part help
oj,
As far as I know, these tensioners are not being reproduced. Maybe they can be found NOS, but I'm not sure. You'd probably have to get them off a parts truck. I have an extra set of them, if you're interested. You can have them for the shipping. The only thing is I'm in Canada, and maybe someone closer to you could ship them cheaper. There would be 4 pieces in all, and not very heavy. Let me know. Blue85, Don't know about the 700r4, but I'm assuming the main difference in the kits would be the length of the center cable. This cable is kind of suspended over the tranny, so I guess the length of the transmission determines the length of the cable. Maybe the kit for the TH400 would work? |
