Extension behind the bed?
Hey Evveryone.
I know this has probably been asked, but what are the trucks called with the extrension behind the bed? Was it even factory? Some guy nearby has a fully restored one for 11,000 and I was wondering why it hasnt sold yet. What are they worth and why was the extension there? thanks! |

I believe they were called a Longhorn, they were made for hauling big campers.

Re: Extension behind the bed?
extension behind the bed? Do you mean an extension to the bed behind the cab? The "extended bed" trucks were called Longhorns. These were fleetside only trucks. The extra long step bed trucks were just know as the 9' stepside trucks (I think.) I think GMC had a different name for them. Longhorn man knows much more than I
Edit: Late again

Re: Extension behind the bed?
LOL, I had to step out and get my baby sister's hooptie running.
Yes, these guys are right, The Chevy Longhorn, or the GMC Custom Camper. Check out the link in my siggy for info. As for why it hasn't sold... everyone wants a short/fleet so they can lower it and put 18 inch torque thrusts on them. While I agree they look good like that, IMO, it's kinda played out. (as I scroll up and see I just described his ride except for the wheels) Don't take it personally, it's just the trend. While some nice longhorns do pring in a pretty penny, and the price HAS been going up a bit the last few years... you do end up sitting on them for a while to get that hefty chunk of chainge. These *freaks of nature* as I've heard them refered to from a few ppl, have a pretty good following. All in all, there were 25,442 chevys built, and if you go by the 1/3 the chevy production numbers formula (since you won't find GMC numbers, that's the generally accepted formula) that means about 8395 GMC extended beds were built too. |
