Re: is this stock?
If you are talking about the piece across the front of the spring eye mount,
Then YES it is FACTORY, and very few BLAZERS still have them on there

Re: is this stock?
I think I read it was some half-a$$ safety precaution after there was a problem with the early trucks. I don't know what/how it works or why.

Re: is this stock?
If I recall correctly - there was a concern that if the leaf spring bolt broke - in an accident the leaf spring would shoot forward and the steering would be lost. That strap retains the leaf spring in case of failure?
Or something like that - my Blazer has it - although I ground a little on it when I changed out my leaf springs

Re: is this stock?
Yes it is stock. As mentioned it is supposed to hold the leaf spring in place in case of an accident or broken spring. There should also be a piece on the drivers side behind the leaf spring to keep it in place on that end. Just a steel bracket rivited to the frame.

I am pretty sure my 69 and 70 still have them on. I have an nos set still in the box with a 32 gm part #. I will look in the box and see what else is in it...

Re: is this stock?
I`ve had them on all my 71/72 4wds and they never bothered me enough to do anything with them.I`m not a purist, but I figure it`s there for a reason so I`ll keep it there for the same reason. It may have had something to do with broken frames @ the steering box.It was a recall in`71,came on all`72s.

Re: is this stock?
My Jimmy still had the rear front spring bracket. It had to go, after the four-inch lift. The rear front spring hanger would hit it when I did any off roading, The stock front inverted springs moved the rear hanger forward during flex, the arched lift spring moved the hanger toward the rear.
