WHERE was he hiding/nesting and how did he get out?

I haven't been working on my truck for about a week now...and I live in the country....well, when I went out to my back yard to do some work on my truck I opened the drivers side door and a mouse fell out from underneath the dash (approximately in line with the radio). Where was he hiding/nesting?

Also, he ran under the seat of the truck, after a few revs of the open header exhaust he was spooked enough to get out of the truck...but he popped out from underneath the truck.....I have been under my truck MANY times, and there are no holes in the floor under my seat.....so how did he get out?

I think they have some kind of dye you can put on the mouse and then use an ultraviolet light to see where the mouse leaks out.

Those little bastards can get through smaller holes than you can imagine. Maybe thru cowl vents or small holes in firewall? I would set a mouse trap in there.
Good luck, Brett

We found 5 mice in a closed and sealed outboard just a awhile ago, and we still can figure out how they got in there.

Re: WHERE was he hiding/nesting and how did he get out?

I am hoping that the open headers flushed them all out....I only saw the one....maybe he was thinking about making it a home for his family, hopefully the loud neighbors keeps them away!
The truck will possibly be back on the road this weekend, I will have to do a full recon....the last thing I need is a mouse trying to run up my leg while driving.

Everything leaks on my truck, but mouse leaks? Do you have rusted out cab corners?

Re: WHERE was he hiding/nesting and how did he get out?

Mice liked the heater core when I first bought my truck.

Must have been a roll of papertowels/fast food napkins lodged in around the core...no wonder the heater was lame until I cleaned it out.

They can fit in,I think,a 1/2-3/4" hole. It`s one of their gifts from God for survival. They have soft little bones.

Re: WHERE was he hiding/nesting and how did he get out?

I just removed the outside heater core housing and low and behold, mice had completely filled in the air duct part of the housing and blower wheel with the firewall insulation. I was wondering why my blower was not pushing any air. I'd use a trap rather than poison. Poison will kill them, but a dead mouse can sure stink, and may be hard to locate where the dead rodent is.

Re: WHERE was he hiding/nesting and how did he get out?

When I had my old 1972, my first Blazer, moved from my MIL's house
to mine by a rollback wrecker, about 13 miles, the guy knows me so he
already knew how to get there, I followed him, on the way there five, I
said 5 mice fell out of it from all the bouncing, they were running all over
the rollback trying to find a way off, well they did, and at 60 mph

When I brought my 69 home & got it running, I had mice of all sizes shooting out the back sides in both directions. The tailpipes were FULL of them. Hee hee

Re: WHERE was he hiding/nesting and how did he get out?

I haven't had any mice, but my truck sat at my dad's place for 5 years, When i finally got things going again, I had a whole hive of bees in the truck. There are honeycombs everywhere. I have got rid of the bee problem, but i still find honeycombs every once in a while when I'm working on my truck.
