Drive shaft lengths
I have a friend with a 68 C-10 longbed six cylinder with 350 tranny. He will be moving everything to a short frame and will need a new drive shaft. What length will I need to look for? I know there are short and long tail 350 trannys and that would make a difference. Was there a standard 350 with an original six cylinder?
If there can be both size 350 trannies, what are the longbed drive shaft lengths so maybe I can determine the tranny with that.

Re: Drive shaft lengths
I don't know anything about the length for that set-up, but my 6 cylinder with my6 tranny came out to about 55 3/8" if this helps any. Note: measurement was center to center on the u-joints.
You can have one made after it's in and you take measements. Power Train in West Tulsa did mine and they can use parts of the existing shaft to do it. It was less than $200 balanced with new slip yoke and front u-joint and reusing the rear u-joint and shaft section. Slip yoke was $50 of the cost.

Re: Drive shaft lengths
I measured my two piece on my 69 - I have a 350 eng with TH-350 tranny that has a 6 inch tail. The front shaft was 25 inches from center to center and the rear is 35 center to center. Would my 6 inch be considered or short or long tail?
