Swapping a 1970 3/4 ton rear end

Right now I have a 1970 Chevy CST 3/4 ton pickup that had a 350 engine and I swapped it to a 1977 350 Monte Carlo engine and auto tranny. Right now I have a heavy duty 8-lug rear end and want to change it to a higher gear 5-lug rear end the easiest possible way that doesn't involve a lot of messing around like if theres one you can just bolt right in. If anybody knows what kind of rear end would go best or what it takes to do a rear end job, any advice or comments would be appreciated.

Re: Swapping a 1970 3/4 ton rear end

Could be possible to find a dana 60 3/4 ton diff from this era..they had 3.54 ,4.10 or 4.56. gears possible for these year trucks. If you have the pumpkin with a salad bowl looking cover.....4.10 or 4.57...aftermarket 3.90 if you can find them.

Now if you go 12 bolt half ton diff..well, lots of options for ratios there.

If the spring perches are the same distance apart you can swap in an axle out of anything you want. easy as pie. even if they aren't the same it can be done, just ask how a ford axle fits in a jeep
