70 CST time capsule

I don't think that I have ever seen a more "correct" truck before. This thing is awesome. Not even a scratch in the bed. Not to mention the fact that it is a '70 CST, with the same color scheme and interior that my truck came from the factory with. I'm not posting as an ebay "find", I just wanted to share a nice, 10,000 mile unmolested truck. (Warning- lots of pics!) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Re: 70 CST time capsule

Bedwood and strips have been painted orange, inside of rocker "step" part is also orange. IIRC that area was painted white when they had white bottom? Very nice truck, but I doubt it has never seen a repaint. But whatever, it is a real beauty.

Do you know if that could be factory or not? Just curious. Never seen it before.

Very nice! Someone is bidding it up. Ten bids/$18,000 with a couple days left and reserve not met.
Notice the BB with PS but no PB. Whoa Nellie...that could be a little scary.

Re: 70 CST time capsule

My gosh what a beauty! I've never seen the bed wood painted before...of course all the beds I've seen had been rotted out. Is this something the factory typically did?

Re: 70 CST time capsule

There are too many noticable spots of overspray to believe that it has not been repainted. But is it a beautiful truck, especially all of the paperwork!!

Re: 70 CST time capsule

I'm pretty sure that the wood and strips all came from the factory painted body color on our trucks.

Re: 70 CST time capsule

We have to remember they didn't paint them back then like they paint them today, plus my 2004 has overspray on it in the wheel wells.

Re: 70 CST time capsule

It also appears to have all the original jack decals, engine decals, and even the old twist-style shocks. I think it very well could be the original paint. If you look at the pic of the underside of the front suspension, you can even see a chalk marking INSIDE the passenger side framerail. Plus all the original documentataion....I'd say its the real deal.

Re: 70 CST time capsule

70 Chevy wouldn't have 400 emblems. JMO, I think it's had some paint work, but still a nice truck. Bed wood was painted.

Re: 70 CST time capsule

I thought 70 was the first year for the 400 emblems? I could be wrong. If there is one thing that I've learned here, it's never to say "GM never did ..." because someone will prove me wrong.

Re: 70 CST time capsule

the bed floor was painted black in 67 and early 68, in mid 68 they started going body color. 400 badges are correct for the 70 model, 396 was only offered on the 69.
While I find it hard to comprehend a vahicle to look that sweet, I agree that it is the real deal.
Any gueses as to what the bidding will go up to?

Re: 70 CST time capsule

I am going with "very carefully repainted" but still an original truck. Those chalk numbers on the firewall are just way too bright for stock and 36 yr. old. I have seen too many on the firewall that are still there but really light or faded no matter how well the paint under the hood looks.
