Water pump/temp sending unit
Can I put my temperature sending unit in the plug on the top of my water pump?
It would save me from having to buy a new water neck b/c the one I have makes the radiator hose rub down on the temp sending unit when it is mounted on the intake.

Re: Water pump/temp sending unit
The problem is my intake only has 2 holes. The one on the passenger side is for my heater hose, and the one on the driver side is right in the way of the radiator hose, the sender rubs a cut into the rad hose unless I can find or order in a new taller water neck.
If it wasnt a problem, I would put it in the normal place, just seeing if its ok for me to take this shortcut.

Re: Water pump/temp sending unit
plug one side of the intake with a brass fitting
put the sending unit in the head like posted earlier this is the most effective and cost efficient solution to the problem |

Re: Water pump/temp sending unit
Ok, mine was never mounted in the head, it was always on the intake so I assumed this was where they normally were. I guess there should be a plugged hole in my heads? I have Edelbrock Performer RPMs.

Re: Water pump/temp sending unit
Problem with the pump is the sender might get in the way of the pump vane.

Re: Water pump/temp sending unit
I have seen several engines (one being my buddies 67 chevy truck) where the temp sending unit is mounted in the top port of the waterpump. It will work, just check that the pump spins freely after tightening the sending unit..

Re: Water pump/temp sending unit
Ok. It did spin freely, but I think Ill take it off the pump and put it on the head, get it out of the way a little bit too.
Thanks
