lifting cab off frame
How is the best way to rig up the cab for removal off frame? Should I use a strap through the windows? or just through the cab? is it possilbe to leave the dog house on? Thanks

I had 3 of the guys I work with come to my house after work and picked the cab up, then the bed , then the bed back on, then off, ....you get the picture. That was the easiest for me.

An aquaintence of mine bent his doors and cab top by trying to lift the cab with one strap through the windows with the doors mounted.
I know you need to spread out the weight.

I used my engine hoist with a modification (country engineered
 )2 2x4' 58" long screwed together, then starp, fixed to the top of the hoist. You can leave the doors on, but don't lift on the doors. I had my driver's door off for another reason, the passenger was opened slightly. Then brace rests on the weather stripping piece as far forward as you can. You'll probably also need to starp the cab to the hoist to prevent it from tipping forward. I ran a strapp around the brake pedal frame up and it kept it steady. Couple old towels for padding on the ends and she came up ( and yesterday went back on without a problem Some one has a setup in the FAQ yo0u can make out of metal for doing this, but I happend to have the wood available at the time

We use two 1/2 ton chain hoists to lift the cab with clip attached off. Straps are used on the rear of the cab so as not to scratch or damage it. We usually get the balance better than what this picture shows, (attached pic of 71).

I designed a one person lift that uses your engine hoist but I have not finished the plans for it yet. They should be ready for shipping in a month or so. It is fully adjustable for any standard cab with or w/o glass and good paint. One door does need to be removed to use it. Here are a few pics of the prototype lift. It will also be able to lift the bed off with one person as well. Then when not in use ot all slides inside it self for easy storage and can be stood up in the corner of the shop.
