Need Help with Tilt Steering
I'm at shop this morning trying to get my tilt steering tightened up as it was starting to flop around. The tech working on it is a little stumped at the way it comes apart. I do not know what the column is from but I know it isnt an original 72 tilt. What columns do people use for our trucks. Everyone talks about van tilts, so what kind and year and model truck is the van tilt from?

Re: Need Help with Tilt Steering
early 70's to early 80's GM van tilts can be modded....look for the ones with no key in the columns..if you find a key..your looking at to new a van.

Re: Need Help with Tilt Steering
Most of the techs know the newer key in ignition tilts, and can fix them. The keyless ones seem to stump them. Odds are, if it has no key, it is a van unit, which for what you are doing, you can call it an original tilt. They are mechanicly the same.
I don't know the internals of them, but when mine got loose, it stumped the guys at work who do know tilts...untill the old fart came in and hopped in.. had it right in a matter of minuites. |
