Sorry boys, but the truck won't get driven much now
Just got a new BMW today It's a 91 318i, and so it'll now be my DD instead of the truck. Just wax it up and the ladies will cling to it.
The truck will be driven on friday night for footballgames though :-D |

Re: Sorry boys, but the truck won't get driven much now
I like BMW's, especially silver or black ones. Car looks not too bad, fix that part hanging down under the valence and maybe find a better seat and you have a good driver. Congrats.

Re: Sorry boys, but the truck won't get driven much now
I don't know about ladies clinging, but I've given up on wax.
Anyway, I've got both a C/10 and a bimmer, too. You'll enjoy the bimmer a lot - they're quick around corners, but not fast off the line. The truck serves a purpose, as does the car. The car is much better on gas and on the highway - and comfortable. The truck is necessary to have around for hauling things - noisy, bouncy but still fun. I've had the car for 9 years, and the truck for 4, and can easily say I've spent more on the truck(not including gas), even though you can't tell it. Best of all, your 318i is an inline engine

If you saw my car right now, you would think I just had it painted (it's hot red, too, worst paint for oxidation), until you notice the chips. Kit is about $35 from the auto parts store chain. They give you everything you'll need. Follow the instructions.

Re: Sorry boys, but the truck won't get driven much now
I have a 1990 325i as a daily driver, I love it, gets decent mileage and is dead reliable. I love old trucks too, but after daily driving my 72 short step for a year, the bimmer is a much smoother/nicer daily driver.
One forum i've liked is www.bimmerfest.org

Re: Sorry boys, but the truck won't get driven much now
Gas saving DDs are always a good idea, just make sure you show the truck as much if not more love than you show the car from the land of beer. I sure wish I had a gas saver and a truck when I was that young. Maybe you can put a sticker on the BMW that says something to the effect of "My other ride is a bada$$ chevy truck!"

Congrats on the new ride. When I was 17 I had my 67 but had to drive an 86 toyota (back in 97) most of the year because of the salt/snow in NY. The bed rusted off so that was replaced with a wood flatbed. The rockers and door bottoms were mostly gone. It was a true POS. I was embarassed to drive it It's a nice DD, just don't neglect the truck

Re: Sorry boys, but the truck won't get driven much now
Thanks Shifty, but the problem with the car is the clear coat has pealed off in some areas, but not in others. The paint underneath the clear coat doesn't respond to wax at all. I think it was probably rough, so that the clear would stick. I'm just waiting for most of it to peal off and then maybe it'll cost less to paint - less sanding
Might be worth a try with the truck, but it really needs rust repair and paint too.

Re: Sorry boys, but the truck won't get driven much now
I guess the truck gets chicks too, but the BMW will actually get me a few ladies with Teeth, and i kind of like that in a girl. But i really love this BMW. It's fun to be able to let it rip, and get into 5th gear quick. Just real nimble and fun to drive.
