Right brake light doesn't work when lights are turned on

Does anyone have any idea why my right brake light and turn signal are not working when I have my lights on. A few months ago it was working fine, then I put a new taillight bracket on because a previous owner had put a bracket not made for the truck on and drilled a hold through the bracket for the wires to run through, they also had spliced the taillight wires together. I had to undo the splice wires to get them through the old bracket but I respliced them after I got the new bracket on. I made sure the wires were connected back the way they were before and even tried reversing them but neither worked. The right brake light and turn signal work when the lights are off but not when they are on, any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the running light and the brake/signal light are tied together. Right side wiring is brown-running light on both sides, dark green-brake/signal, light green backup. There is a plug at the back of the left rear wheel, take a meter or 12v light and test there. Hope it helps use frame as ground

Where the tailight housing bolts to the bracket, scrape a few spots to bare metal. The electrical receives it's ground through being bolted to teh bracket which, in turn, is bolted to your truck and all the way back to your batt. The truck is one BIG ground. BUT, don't take my word for it. use some extra wiring around and try touching one end to the edge of the light socket and the other end to a bolt.

It will be this or your wiring, as so mentioned by the person above me

Unless of course.... The bulb is good right? lol Just kidding, I'm sure that's the first thign you checked.

It's the ground. This just happened to me on Saturday. I wiggled the bracket around and it started working again.
