Re: need help fitting bigblock 4x4
They made some stands for the 454 that was in my '72 K-20..........Wasn't a bad job, but they cut out the one to clear the exhaust manifold, which should have been plated with a half piece of tubing to strengthen it. But it fit and worked well otherwise. I can take pictures of them since I not longer use them. Would probably even unload them if your interested.

Re: bigblock 4x4
Joe - GM did not build a BB 4X4 until 73 plus. Try to find a 73 + cross member.
Use search to contact LIVERAT - the early (67-72) BB 4X4 guru. He can set you straight. Good luck and have fun - Bob

Re: bigblock 4x4
My Suburban had a 350, someone took it out and put a '79 GMC 454 in it and made a crossmember from scratch out of 1/4" steel plate and reinforced the heck out of it. I wish I had a camera so I could get some pics of it. They did use the factory holes in the frame for the original crossmember though.

Re: bigblock 4x4
I used the original crossmember but if I did it over I would use the 73-up crossmember. Using it and a bit of a body lift often times allows the engine to fit with minor firewall modifications.
