Need some cam info on a 327

I recently bought a 67 lwb C10 from a windowed lady. It was her husbands truck that he had owned since new. I spent the last couple of day looking up casting number and vin numbers. The 327 in the truck was a bought crate motor from GM in 68, the block was the same one used as the vette 327 FI 375hp. The engine is beefy for a 2 bolt main the mains are hugh and so are the conecting rods with large bolts.

But I am having trouble looking up the cam info the only numbers on it are 6930X it is a gm cam. The lifts are .347" which are larger than the L-79 350hp cams. My guess is this cam is a police model if there is such a thing cause the orginal owner of the truck was a Kansas State Game Warden.

Now I do I find out what the valve lift would be so I can find a replacement cam all the cataloges list vavle lift and not lobe lift.

put a dial indicator on the rocker, over the valve or over the pushrod and cycle it.

Valve lift is 1.5 rocker arm ratio time lobe lift, so valve lift divided by 1.5 = cam lobe lift. Hope that helps.

woren lobes are not worth reading but most of the lobes look good my cams lobe lift is .347 on a majority of the lobes there are few wore down to .323 The truck only has 60K on it, but the motor was left with the valve covers and timing cover off since 2004. So I am rebuilding it.

Re: Need some cam info on a 327

with the 1.5 ratio I am looking at somewhere around .520 valve lift. That quit a bit, it also will explain for the old school traction system. The piece of railroad iron(track) bolted to the frame behind rear bumper with a 1" thick strap welding arcoss the top of that. Which is going to be alot of fun to remove, but will make one hell of a anvil.
