Why I love my chevy truck
ok, it's off subject, but i thought i would share this with my new like-minded friends. after climing into the engine well of my chevy to jack with timing, fuel lines, etc. , this is my weekend project. the soon to be family vehicle, 95 SHO W/ 225K swapping in an 80K eng., and trans., the tightest fit i've ever seen in a car. how fun does this look
but i got that SOB in !! and yes, that is all the way in !! took about an hour to wedge it in and guide it down. not too bad i guess. that was the easy part, probably another 3-4 hours tommorrow finishing up; re-install a/c comp.(left the original in the well, connected, in an attempt to salvage my good a/c), alt., exhaust manf.(those really suck), main harness, stab the axles & re-connect LCAs, etc., all in less than a few inches of clearence all the way around . it should be worth it though, these things run a yamaha engine, and redlines at 8000 !! but it really makes me love my "new" chevy, ugly or not! so what is everyone else doing this weekend? oh yea, and in case anyone is wondering, yes, i'm planning to chem-dip and paint my old intake, like my buick. i was thinking green and yellow? any thoughts?

Re: Why I love my chevy truck
I had (and I stress HAD) to do a stratus engine swap one time and it was the same way. There was absolutely NO room to get the engine back in.

Re: Why I love my chevy truck
I did ONE front wheel drive engine swap. That was enough.
I'm far from being a mechanic, plus I'm a big guy with big hands. It was a bad combination... Slonaker |

Re: Why I love my chevy truck
Most of these FWD cars are designed to have the motor come out from the bottom. Of course that's darn near impossible without a lift, strut tower brace, and a transmission jack. From there I hear it's a piece of cake...
