Vintage Air
Ok after a lot of checking and comparing I've decided to go with the Vintage Air set-up for my truck. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I should buy it to get the best price? I believe I've seen the system for under 1K but don't remember where. TIA.....

Re: Vintage Air
I couldn't really find a price break anywhere so I bought direct from Vintage Air. If you have a non air truck I would go with the system that uses the factory A/C controls. If you go this route there are cheaper people to buy the controls from. You will also need the bracket for the controls. Vintage Air can sell you that piece for cheep!(not to mention I couldn't find anyone else who sold it.)

Re: Vintage Air
I BOUGHT ONE ABOUT A YEAR AGO FOR $1000. I LOOKED & LOOKED FOR ABOUT A YEAR TO FIND ONE FOR A GRAND, & WHEN I FINALLY FOUND ONE I JUMPED ON IT. I GOT THEIR SURE FIT SYSTEM FOR A AIR CAB & AM USING MY STOCK CONTROLS. THE GUY SELLING THEM WAS BLOWING THEM OUT AT OR NEAR HIS COST. I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO GET TO THE POINT WHERE I'M READY TO INSTALL IT. JOHN

Uh oh....what bracket are you talking about? The guy at vintage said he could sell me the a/c controller for $195 but he didn't say anything about a bracket. I found a rebuilt controller on ebay for $55. My factory controller is only for heat so I guess that bracket won't work? Part number? Thanks.....

Re: Vintage Air
I bought mine about two weeks ago (still waiting on it to get here - there's a three to four week backlog at vintage). Mine was $1070 out the door. Cheapest I've found and I called a ton of places. The number is at work so if your interested let me know. Cheers, Jim.

Re: Vintage Air
Me too
But considering Greenville's summer heat (which starts in early May) it won't be on the "wish list" for long. It's going to be a pain to add it to my truck. I'll need to move the alt to the driver side, I have a mutt of an engine bay, and a non air cab (and I'd like the "stock look.") It's gonna be interesting installing it...

Re: Vintage Air
You will have to use one of the custom mount kits, think it is called the genII, to have a smooth firewall, I called them when i ordered my kit, they said you can't have smooth firewall w/just a bulkhead if you use the surefit kit.

Re: Vintage Air
Here's pulley pics per request. You are gonna have to have a double groove water pump pulley and a triple groove crank pulley. The compressor brackets are top notch pieces with A1 fitment.

Re: Vintage Air
I found the Old Air setup much better....it's about the same price but you can use your non-air controller and install dash registers like the stock AC setup. You just have to cut the dash in the center and the two sides for the vents. The firewall can be dead smooth as it all fits behind the glove box.
We saw the setup at the Pickups and Panels show in Farmer's Branch and I was very impressed.
