Bad Truck News

Just got the word this afternoon, TRUCK WON"T pass inspection. Passengers side upper control arm broken where the bushing goes in. So I am looking for a passenger side upper "A" arm from a '71-72 C20-C30.
I will start looking in junk yards on the weekend for something usable.
Big bummer.

Re: Bad Truck News

Knowing what we know about the PA inspections... did you verify the arm is actually cracked? They'll do what ever they can to park an old vehicle.

Re: Bad Truck News

where are you located? Klingers in Pine Grove PA had 7-10 trucks last time I went out there (C-10's and 20/30's) ....PA Inspections suck, I am scared to take mine in when the time comes. Just had to put 4 tires on the car to pass this year....Try another shop? If you go to Klinger be sure to take your scrap steel, they will pay cash!

Re: Bad Truck News

I have a spare set of control arms. And a set of brand new ball joints. The arms have rust scale but no holes, and the joints are for 69-70. I will trade you the arms and joints for two new upper ball joints for a 72. PM me if you are interested.

Re: Bad Truck News

People (mostly from PA) say Maryland inspection sucks(and it does). But,at least once you`re through, that`s it...forever!And,with inspecting only being required when changing titles,it helps keep people from inheriting nasty problems from dishonest sellers.$.02

Re: Bad Truck News

Aint the A- arms for 3/4 and 1 ton interchangeadle with 3/4 and 1 ton 73 to 87 trucks and 73 to 93 suburbans? If so i think that would be an easy fix for you. I hope this helps. Good luck

Re: Bad Truck News

I was a MD state inspector for a few years! At Ourisman Ford and 2 service stations. The state police oversaw us, they figured it was only once for a private vehicle, now the game was the imissions inspectors.........
I have no problem with somebody making sure it is safe but I have heard horror stories about PA and NY............in MD we didn't have to deal with as bad rust issues though

Re: Bad Truck News

PA inspections aren't bad at all, as long as you take it to the right place

Re: Bad Truck News

The guy I take it to will pass alot of little things unless it is a safety issue. He looks at how many miles are on it from the last year and will pass brakes that would fail at other places.
I had ball joints put on 3 years ago upper and lower, They were hard to get at the time.
The dealers parts book listed disc brake A arms as different than drum and the c20/c30 were the same number.
