Painless Wiring Question

I have my 3/4 ton chevy wired with painless wiring. Nice kit but I have a question about the wiring for the alt. Does anyone have a diagram of how this should be wired? My old setup had two wires coming off the alt.
One wire going to the bolt off the alt. to the starter and the other went to one tab on the side (red). The white wire was not used. Hope this make since and sorry for no pics.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Painless Wiring Question

You can download instructions for your harness if summit racing sells the harness that you have. These instructions should have something to help you wire the alternator. The instructions will be in a pdf format.

Re: Painless Wiring Question

I have those but there was an insert I can not find for a high output alt. They did not have a wire being used for the alt terminals and I had a wire going from the starter to the alt terminal. The white wire from the alt terminal was not used. ??????????? hmmmmm confused and just need to wire it so it charges the system.

If it has an internal regulator then it should look like this.

Re: Painless Wiring Question

there should be a white whire in the kit #914, that goes to the alt. plug, red wire from the plug jumps to the post on the back of the alt, it will still charge without the white wire hooked up, but your gauge won't work. I can take a pic of mine if you want.
