Don't look Ethel....

Since my buddy Keith (n2billet) can never sit still he had to start another project since his last project dubbed "Lucy" is almost done. Well, as done as any of our trucks ever get. For details on the build up of "Lucy" look here-n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

Actually you have to go backwards to go forwards here. This blue truck which Keith appropriately named "Ethel" was bought before Lucy was, then sold, or traded, or sold and traded, I forget which. It sat in storage while Keith spent the better part of a year building the red truck.

Here's how she looked before he spent some quality time with her.

Re: Don't look Ethel....

This one was no where near as clean as the red truck, but still very solid. It came with all the pieces needed to fix what little rust it had. Somehow Keith managed to talk the owner out of it and start the build up again.

This is what it looked like after he cleaned it up, added a few fresh parts and some decent wheels.

Re: Don't look Ethel....

I'll let my buddy step in and take it from here. Keep an eye on this thread. He says this truck is going to be low budget. I'm taking odds it doesn't stay that way long...

Re: Don't look Ethel....

I dunno, those TTIIs are so common.I was diggin`the dark wheel/chrome lugs/whitewalls on back & light wheel/RWL on front look.Kinda breaks the mold, even for the rat-rod look. You may have started something by shoeing those first pictures.
Tell Keith I`ll buy Lucy "as is".I could save him all that bother with going all through another build of another truck spending all that time just to end up with just another nice truck.I could help him before it`s too late.
Looks like he`s taking a different approch. That`s the beauty of it all,IMHO.

Re: Don't look Ethel....

I actually can't decide if I like Lucy or Ethel better, I would love to roll either of those trucks.

Re: Don't look Ethel....

Man I love that color scheme. There's something about the blue with white top and side moulding that just really does it for me.

Now how is it he gets so much done on these trucks so quickly? If I was working at his pace I would have about 8 trucks done by now!

Re: Don't look Ethel....

Ken what size of wheel and tires is he using on the back? I like that rear tire size. Are those trucks at Stoked? Can I go see them?

Re: Don't look Ethel....

Ken's got the pictures backwards (sorta) the truck had the Americans when I bought it the first time. I sold the wheels and tires to another board member (jalopytogo) for his project. I was going to run the red wheels with wide white but the wheels will not clear the front rotors, as it sits right now it has Rallys but still looks the same. I have new rockers and cab corners and today I got the air ride brackets and bags. I'm going to collect parts for a while then I will jump in and thrash. This truck will run grey centered American style wheels 20/20 or 22/20 combo not real sure yet. The main factor will be what I find on clearance or at a swap meet.....time will tell.....and Ken the key word for Ethel is "budget",and my ace in the hole is I have Scoti to help and collect the needed parts......

Where can I go about finding one of these "Scoti"'s? Are they difficult to maintain? (e.g. )

That sounds familiar. When I get home I'll upload Zumo's rendering of my "finished" truck.

Scoti is a forum member and mutual friend. He is well known for his uncanny ability to recall the tire/wheel size on almost any vehicle he has ever seen. Beyond that he is also a great scrounger. He has a nose for sniffing out parts being sold way below their value.

Zumo- Andy those are the 17's that came on the truck. I can't remember what size the tires are but Scoti can... Yes this truck and many others can be seen at the Stoked Out shop.

Joe67-You are correct sir! Keith has access to a nice shop, but I have seen him and his buddies turn out killer rides from a very small shop too. The main reason he gets so much done is he goes and works on them rather than sitting at home on his computer.

Y'all subscribe to this one, it's gonna be good.
